An evening at St. Beatus

Our welcome celebration will begin with a private one-hour tour through the illuminated St. Beatus Caves, followed by dinner at Restaurant Stein & Sein, overlooking Lake Thun.

What should I wear?

Dressy smart casual is perfect for the evening. Please keep in mind that the cave visit includes a ten-minute walk from the parking area, followed by an approximately one-hour tour along illuminated paths with damp surfaces and 297 steps. Warm outerwear and very comfortable, secure, non-slip walking shoes are strongly recommended; heels are not practical for the cave portion of the evening. The cave remains 8–10°C (46–50°F), while Restaurant Stein & Sein is warm and elegant, so removable layers are ideal. Polished dresses or separates, tailored trousers with a blouse or knit, and collared shirts with a jacket are all appropriate for dinner.

Across winter Switzerland
to Lake Thun

From the airport terminal, frequent trains carry you through Bern and into the Bernese Oberland in approximately two hours. As the city gives way to winter fields and Alpine foothills, the journey becomes the first chapter of the celebration. From Thun station, Schadau Park is about ten minutes by taxi or local bus.

Will a traditional invitation arrive?

Yes. A formal paper invitation will follow by mail. We are sharing the celebration and travel information digitally now so guests can make international arrangements early.

When should we reserve flights and hotels?

We encourage booking once you know you can join us. Late December is a festive travel period, and hotel inventory in Thun is limited. Choose flexible or refundable arrangements when available.

What will the weather be like?

Expect true Swiss winter conditions: cold air, possible snow or rain, and early evening darkness. The ceremony and reception are indoors, with only brief walks between locations.

Can we revise our response?

Yes. Submit the form again using the same email address and your newest details will replace the earlier response.

Will transportation be arranged?

The church and castle are next to one another in Schadau Park. Detailed transportation guidance for the Sunday welcome celebration and any wedding-day arrangements will be shared closer to the weekend.

What travel documents do we need?

Every traveler should verify current passport validity and entry requirements for Switzerland based on their citizenship before booking.
